A Good Samaritan notified STOP agent in a Live Chat session that she found a STOP-tagged laptop on side of road in Geneva, NY. STOP identified the registered owner by the STOP ID Number that appears on the STOP Security Plate. Owner is a student at a nearby university; was away on vacation when his laptop was stolen from home, then apparently abandoned after the thief noticed the STOP Security Plate. Recovery in process, case closed!

A Good Samaritan engaged one of STOP’s agents through a Live Chat session at our website to notify us she found a STOP-tagged laptop on the side of the road in Geneva, NY. Good Samaritan provided the STOP ID Number on the STOP Security Plate, which enabled STOP to identify the registered owner, a student at a nearby university. The student was out of state on vacation when this laptop was stolen, then apparently abandoned after the thief noticed the STOP Security Plate, with its anti-theft warning.
