A detective at Baltimore County PD called STOP's 24/7 Recovery Hotline to report they recovered six STOP-tagged laptops in a burglary investigation search of a storage unit in Washington, DC area. STOP identified all six laptops in the client registration database as belonging to a school in the area. None of the six devices was reported to STOP as stolen. STOP reached out to the database admin, awaiting verification of ownership status. Investigation is underway.

A Good Samaritan found an abandoned STOP-tagged desktop PC on the street in Hamilton, ON, Canada and contacted STOP to verify ownership status. STOP contacted the registered owner and verified that the device had been routinely decommissioned and was not stolen. Device is free and clear.

Someone called STOP's recovery hotline to verify if a STOP-tagged device he purchased at a thrift store is free and clear. STOP notified the registered owner, who confirmed that the device was decommissioned by their organization. STOP notified the new owner that he may re-register this device in his name free of charge at STOP's website.
