A police officer at Manchester, CT PD called our 24/7 Recovery Hotline to report he found a STOP-tagged laptop on the side of the road in early morning hours. He also reported there were multiple smash-and-grab vehicle thefts in the area overnight. This laptop was apparently stolen then abandoned by the thief after thief noticed the STOP Security Plate, which virutually eliminates illicit resale value. STOP notified the owner, a large national industrial enterprise, and recovery process is underway.

A student at a school in South Chicago, Illinois found a STOP-tagged laptop on the street and turned it over to his Dean of Students. An administrator at the school notified STOP, who identified the registered owner, a large medical organization, by the STOP ID Number provided by the administrator. STOP notified the registered owner and recovery process is underway.

FedEx Lost & Found agent called STOP’s 24/7 Recovery Hotline to report they recovered a STOP-tagged laptop inside a sealed carton that was missing a FedEx shipping label. Agent provided the STOP ID Number, which enabled STOP to quickly identify the registered owner, a large healthcare enterprise. STOP notified the administrator, and recovery process is underway.

Good Samaritan contacted STOP through our offline alert system to report that she recovered a STOP-tagged laptop that had fallen off the back of a truck along with several other untagged devices. STOP identified the registered owner, a university, and reached out to the STOP program administrator there to verify ownership status and arrange recovery if still active inventory.
